Back in New York...

NEW YORK, Sep 21-24 - We got back to New York after an uneventful flight from Zurich.  I had business meetings and client workshops lined up there for the next couple of days, so there was no time play a tourist again.  But I did have some wild (life) experiences while visiting the IBM campus at Somers, New York, about an hour-and-a-half by car north of the City.

As you can see from the above photos, a deer was checking me out quite carefully as I left the IBM premises on Tuesday night.  The following morning, a gaggle of (Canada) geese were patrolling the parking lot, making sure there were no unwanted visitors spying on IBM.  It's hard to beat that kind of security, especially when it comes to labor costs.  :-) Furthermore, anyone who has tried to confront the geese should know by now that you don't mess around with them.  And that's no feathery joke.

The IBM Somers campus is one of the prettiest corporate workplaces I have seen.  As is evident from the above photos, great green vistas stretch out from there in all directions.

I was fortunate to get tickets to the Sep 23 preview performance of the new Broadways musical "Memphis" which is due to open in November.  What made this evening especially special was that it was the first night of the previews at the Schubert Theater.  Anybody who is anybody on Broadway and the New York entertainment scene was there.

In the end, the show was possibly the most outstanding musical I have ever seen.  There is no doubt in my mind that "Memphis" will become a long-running hit, akin to the "Chorus Line" or the "Phantom of the Opera."  So the sooner you get to see it, the bigger your head start over the trailing crowds.

And that's all she wrote from our return visit to New York.
