Zurich, Day 1

ZURICH, Switzerland, Sep 11 - We got to Zurich fairly exhausted after traveling over 10,000 miles from our home in Hawaii.  But we still pressed on hoping to stay up as long as we could so as to get over the jetlag as quickly as possible.  So we took a train ride into downtown Zurich from our suburban hotel...

...disembarking at the Zurich main train station which for me holds many memories from my youth, when I used to live and work in Switzerland for a while as a summer student.

We then took a long walk to the lake, where we enjoyed the company of swans and ducks and the serenity of a setting sun.

Walking back to the train station along Bahnhofstrasse, the city's main drag, I was please to see that not much has changed in terms of appearances anyway in the over 40 years that have elapsed since I used to live in Switzerland.  Zurich still has a feel of a small town even though it is the most metropolitan city in this country.

But more on all that later.  Now it's time for this writer to crash... :-)
