Zurich, Day 2

ZURICH, Switzerland, Sep 12 - We got up fairly early after a good long first night's sleep in Europe.  After a quick breakfast, we took a train again into town intending to go on a boat cruise.

But we ended up walking through the old town Zurich first, before spotting a big flee market near the harbor.

I left Elizabeth there while I checked out the various boat cruise options   The morning mist was still hovering above the lake.  The swans and ducks had not yet gone out on their daily cruises.  The were just waking up (middle).  But the man and the eagle (statue, right) were already in the swing of things.

While walking around the park where the flee market was taking place, waiting for Elizabeth to finish her shopping, I noticed a number of chalk-written anti-globalism slogans on the pavement.  They were obviously done by a non-English speaking person(s) considering the spelling and grammatical errors.  But their anti-American political aim was quite clear, nevertheless.

Elizabeth and I eventually reunited and sailed off on a short cruise around the Zurich lake.

Later on that evening, we got together with a family of musicians from Germany who drove six hours (!) to meet us at our Zurich hotel.  Viviana, the young woman in the left photo with Elizabeth and I, and I connected via the Internet last February when I recorded a music video and dedicated it to her (see 13th Concert - "Entertainer", Feb 22, 2009).

We also almost connected with a business friend from Austin via New York.  But he had to fly out to India in the morning.  So we agreed to meet in New York on our way back from Europe.  The world is really flat when it comes to jet-travel... :-)

Finally, there was a cow (statue) inside our hotel (left) as well as one outside (middle).  And here we thought that cow-worship is something unique to India.  Add Switzerland to the growing list of cattle admirers... :-) Two days later, Elizabeth also took this picture of the French cows (right).  But we have not seen any French artists infatuated enough to turn them into sculptures.

How did we end up in France?  Stand by for that story in our next segments of this travelogue...

And that's all she wrote from our second day in Switzerland.
