FROM WAIKOLOA (BIG ISLAND), HAWAII (click on thumbnail images to enlarge) Shamanic Ceremony HAWAII, Nov 28 - After spending a relaxing morning on the beach and walking around the Waikoloa neighborhood, I felt a need to do a shamanic ceremony this afternoon. On our walk back from the nearby Hilton resort, where we visited a dolphins pen among other things... ...I picked out an ideal place for a the ceremony - an "Apucheto with a view" (left). Two nearby trees seemed locked in a desperate passionate embrace (middle left). I used them to unload and set up my shamanic gear, including my mesa (middle right). The afternoon was dark and foreboding at that moment. I put my Inka poncho on, and walked right to the ocean where Mama Kocha (the ocean), Pacha Mama (the earth) and Inti (Sun God) meet (the three ancient Inka and pre-Inka deities). Just as I started my prayers to the trio, doing them with as much heart and emotion as I could muster (which was quite a bit, actually, giving the beautiful setting), the clouds started to part. Several rays of sun pierced the grayness, illuminating a spot in the ocean directly in front of me (middle). That was where the three ancient deities met. Then the spot started to widen and the light began to move toward me (right). I recognized the sign as a blessing that sent chills down my spine and goose bumps on my skin. After taking the above shots, I walked to a different spot right on the edge of the ocean, where I performed the rest of the shamanic rites. When I finished, I wanted to preserve the beauty and the serenity of the spot for you and for posterity. So I shot the following video, which I later posted on YouTube (click on images or the title to play): Scenic Aftermath of Shamanic Ceremony (3:04 mins) As soon as I finished that, I walked to the edge of the rock. Was I ever in for a surprise. No more than six feet away, there was a turtle
swimming TOWARD me!? In the past, including this morning, we have
seen giant see turtles lounging around on the beaches and taking in the
sun. But this one was actually coming toward me. He (or she?) had a hard
time reaching me, as he was being tossed around by the waves. He
even raised his head above the waves a couple of times, as if No wonder, I thought, when they happen at the tri-union of Inti, Pacha Mama and Mama Kocha. Later that evening, we went out to dinner. I looked like a beach bum, while Elizabeth dressed up in her new Hawaiian outfit, looking as if she were ready for a ball (left). To be continued...
