FROM SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA Trip to Sedona, New Desk SCOTTSDALE, Jan 8, 2007 - Ida and I
started the New Year with a wonderful New Year's Eve at the Marriott at
Desert Ridge. From there on, our New Year went from great to
better. Every day seemed to bring new excitements and
enchantments. One of them was our drive to Sedona on Serbian Christmas Eve (Jan 6, the western Epiphany). It was our first ever trip together, and the first longer drive for ZFILLY (my still relatively new car - see Emily's visit, Oct 2007). The day was cloudy and rainy in part, but the charm of Sedona and its natural beauty shone through nonetheless (two left photos). As for Tlaquepaque, in cloudy weather and with its leafless deciduous trees, the place could have been Anytown in Italy or France or Spain. I have never seen Sedona in this type of ambiance, and found it to be every bit as charming, if not more so, than its usual sunny, or at times, snowy appearance. Ida and I had just a great time, topped off with a late afternoon "dinner" at Pizza Picazzo. And then on Monday, Ida, Stephanie and I had a marvelous time celebrating the Serbian Christmas at both of our houses. The beautiful flowers on the left were Stephanie's gift. And that gorgeous heart paper weight in the right photo was one of two my darling Ida gave me. Meanwhile, my new desk arrived in late afternoon (middle left). Miraculously, I was able to disconnect and reinstall all computer and network gear the same evening. Amazing luck! Meanwhile, here's some interesting wild life at the Basha's food store, and a roadrunner crossing the road at Grayhawk.
And that's all she wrote at the end of the 2008 holiday season...
