My New Home at Grayhawk

Scottsdale, Arizona

Chapter 1: In the Beginning... ; Chapter 2: Ode to Joy; Chapter 3: Interior Decorating; Chapter 4: Golf; Chapter 5: Art

FROM PHOENIX, ARIZONA

SCOTTSDALE, Oct 28, 2005 - Above is the MLS photo of my new patio home at Grayhawk, an upscale gate-guarded community in North Scottsdale.

The map shows the exact location and the address of my new home.  It sits on a quiet, dead-end street.  As you can see, the entire community was built in 1997-2000 around the Grayhawk Golf Course, and is anchored by the Grayhawk Golf Club (more on that at the end of this photo essay).

Here's the floor plan of this 3 bedroom/2bathroom, ~2,200-sq ft patio home that looks like a brand new house.  In viewing the photos that follow, please try to look beyond the hideous furniture and the geriatric decor of the former owners.  The house is actually impeccable in all other respects.  I  intend to use an interior designer and create a whole new look and feel of the place.

...and the view back toward the entrance hallway.

The master bath includes a Jacuzzi tub.  There is also a spa and a pool at the nearby community center which is within an easy (100-200 yard) walking distance from my new residence.

A gas barbecue and an open air gas fireplace are also in the back yard.

There is another parallel alley on the other side of the house.

There is also a community pool, spa and two tennis courts within a short walk from my new home.

Finally if you click here, you can take a VIRTUAL TOUR of the new home.

The Grayhawk Golf Club

While it is unlikely that I will ever take up golf again, I may treat some of his friends there for a few rounds  of golf.  Besides, the golf club includes a clubhouse with a nice restaurant and sports bar, so it could be a nice and convenient place for socializing.

The New Village Club at DC Ranch

Meanwhile, my new home fulfilled a much more important a criterion.  It is within a close proximity of the new Village health club, at the nearby DC Ranch.  The club has just opened (Aug 1, 2005), and is managed by a friend of mine who used to run the other (original) Village club in Arcadia (see the map below):
